UN Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide, Adama Dieng, issued a statement welcoming the decision of the ICC Pre-Trial Chamber that would allow for the prosecution of the crime of deportation of the Rohingya from Burma to Bangladesh. The alleged crime of deportation, the ICC said, fell under the jurisdiction of the Court, as Bangladesh, where part of the crime occurred, is party to the Rome Statute.
