7 August 2012
The United Nations Association – United Kingdom (UNA-UK) has launched an RtoP policy programme to build support for RtoP in the UK. Building on a growing international awareness and support amongst states to protect populations within and outside their borders, UNA-UK’s new programme – Protecting populations from atrocities: implementing the Responsibility to Protect – will seek to:
· Consolidate a national R2P policy-support network;
· Build support for R2P within the UK Government, national and regional political parties;
· Establish greater international political constituency for R2P;
· Build grassroots support for R2P, in the UK.
