Condolence message from ICRtoP on the passing of Ken Bacon

It is with the utmost sadness that we heard of the death of Ken Bacon this past weekend.  On behalf of the International Coalition for the Responsibility to Protect (ICRtoP), we wish to extend our deepest condolences to Ken’s family and our colleagues at Refugees International.  Ken’s and RI’s support for RtoP was simply a strong confirmation of his dedication to assisting those most vulnerable in our world.  It is rare for one to have risen to the top, first as a Journalist, then as Assistant Secretary of Defense, and lastly as President of a humanitarian organization while always being known for his decency, goodness, intelligence and honesty.  As one of Ken’s and RI’s most recent initiatives, the ICRtoP will strive to make the new norm of Responsibility to Protect a powerful and effective peace tool to prevent and redress mass violations of human rights.  This will be the best way for us to honor Ken’s legacy.
